This Privacy Policy explains how ShortsSync (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, processes, and protects information when you use the ShortsSync website (shortssyncer.com) and the ShortsSync Chrome extension. We are dedicated to ensuring your privacy and being transparent about our automated pipeline’s data practices.

1. Video processing & temporary storage.

To automate the cross-posting process, our backend retrieves video files from YouTube. Specifically:

  • When you request a cross-post, our server temporarily downloads your YouTube Short video file using yt-dlp.
  • This file is processed and transcoded to a 9:16 vertical layout using FFmpeg.
  • The processed video file is stored in a temporary server directory only for the duration of the upload process.
  • Automatic Deletion: All video files and thumbnails are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers immediately after the upload is completed or fails. We do not maintain any long-term storage of your video content.

2. Credentials and accounts.

To publish Reels on your behalf, ShortsSync requires authorization for your Instagram account. We enforce the following security protocols:

  • For the Private API (Path B), your Instagram credentials (username and password) are used solely to establish a persistent session file.
  • No Plaintext Storage: We never store your Instagram password in plaintext. In local development configurations, credentials reside in your private environment variables. In production, credentials and tokens are encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption.
  • For the Official Graph API (Path A), we use standard Meta OAuth 2.0 access tokens. Access tokens are stored securely and encrypted. You can revoke access at any time.

3. Data collection and usage.

ShortsSync does not sell, lease, or distribute your personal data, credentials, or video content to any third parties. We collect and use information solely to:

  • Execute the video conversion and uploading pipelines you request.
  • Track your daily usage quota (stored locally in your browser and backend databases).
  • Maintain security and prevent abuse of our services.

4. Third-party services.

ShortsSync interacts with the following third-party platforms to execute its services:

  • YouTube (Google LLC): Public metadata and video clips are read using scraper libraries and public APIs. Your interaction is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • Instagram & Facebook (Meta Platforms, Inc.): Videos and captions are sent to Meta’s servers for publication. Your interaction is subject to Meta’s Privacy Policy.
  • LemonSqueezy: Handles all billing and subscription management. We do not store or process credit card details on our servers.

5. Google Analytics.

The ShortsSync website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand website traffic and improve user experience. This does not track or collect data from the Chrome extension. You can opt out using standard browser blocker extensions.
